The jade dial cushion-case Piaget is a beautiful example of the stone-dial dress watches produced by Piaget during the 1970s, a period when the brand was at the peak of its creativity in ultra-thin watchmaking and hard-stone dial design.

During the 1970s, Piaget famous for combining precious materials, became unconventional case shapes, and extremely thin movements. Instead of focusing on large or complicated watches, the brand created elegant pieces that felt closer to jewelry, often using materials such as jade, lapis lazuli, tiger's eye, malachite, or onyx. These stone dials were difficult to produce, and each one has a completely unique pattern, which makes every watch slightly different.

This model features a soft cushion-shaped case, a design that became popular in the mid-to-late 1970s when watchmakers moved away from strict round cases and began experimenting with more organic shapes. The smooth, rounded square profile gives the watch a strong vintage character while still looking very modern today. Combined with the warm yellow gold case, the green jade dial creates a rich but understated look that is typical of Piaget from this era.

Jade dials were made in small quantities because the stone is fragile and difficult to cut thin enough for watch use. Because of this, well-preserved examples without cracks, chips, or heavy discoloration are becoming increasingly hard to find, especially in original condition.

Most Piaget watches from this period used ultra-thin manual movements, allowing the case to remain very slim and elegant. This thin construction, together with the simple two-hand layout, reflects Piaget's philosophy at the time — refinement, minimalism, and perfect proportions rather than complexity.

Today, 1970s Piaget stone-dial watches in cushion cases are appreciated by collectors for their unique materials, low production numbers, and strong connection to the era when Piaget was one of the most innovative dress-watch makers in Switzerland.
